SECCA, housed in the historic Hanes mansion, has quite a history itself. Once a source of controversy, it has since been wrapped into the embrace of the NC museum system. Nevertheless, it still provides some cutting edge and cutting commentary like the current Lonnie Holley show. Unlike many museums, they have been featuring local artists as well. Sam the dot man Drew a large audience. Thoughtful shows that don't overwhelm. |
Very cool gardens and getting a tour of the house was very cool and informative, honestly better than the reynolda house when it is in conjunction with the amazing gallery. They always have fun activities where you can rexperience the art first hand. The curation of the gallery is always top notch. The Cubans exhibit we're especially great with the clothing donations from Winston-Salem residents made into pillows. The group contributions made the piece especially impactful. It's close proximity to the reynolda village makes for a really fun day trip when the weather is good. All the staff is very kind, love this place. |
What a Great theater venue, we went to see a Christmas Carol, nice great acoustics, stage floor could use some dampening, but otherwise what a nice place. Lobby is somewhat small for intermissions, needs a few benches along the walls for more seating during intermissions. |
I took the opportunity to purchase tickets for the "Old Salem Cristmas Carol". I found it charming enjoyable and funny. It's was a great way to celebrate the holiday season and put you in a good mood. The volunteers set out high quality refreshments and wine or punch. There were children there and it held their interest. Look forward to the next one. |
This is a beautiful facility with a great theatre space, beautiful outdoor areas and ever changing art exhibits.
