Graceland was amazing! Despite him being before my time, I've been an Elvis fan since I was a little girl. Actually seeing his home and walking the halls he walked in was such an amazing experience. I did the basic tour with planes and it came out to be around $50. It wasn't cheap, but I was so happy that it felt worth it. You could take as many pictures as you want, but no videos. The tour is self guided using an audio set and my virtual tour guide was John Stamos, which was the icing on the cake (I love me some John Stamos). If you love Elvis, I think you'll love Graceland. |
I actually liked the tour. It was pretty cool seeing where Elvis lived. Seeing the horses was a plus because they were so beautiful. Put this place on your bucket list. |
"Can't Help Falling In Love" comes to mind when I set foot in Graceland..! Graceland transports us back to the 60's & 70's era to honor the King of Rock & Roll & get a glimpse of how he lived when he was in his beloved home. Even though the upstairs of Graceland is closed to the public, you can visit other rooms inside & outside the home which are all meticulously preserved; and with the help of the self-guided tour, narrated by "Uncle Jessie" & some words by Lisa Marie, you can still feel Elvis' strong legacy decades later. The opulent & glamorous planes, especially the Lisa Marie, are impressive to see & one can envision not only how famous he was but how rich he was too during his lifetime. While in Memphis, it's definitely worth visiting Graceland and enjoy this 14 acre estate with all its glory. Elvis' larger-than-life presence continues to live on at this magnificent place and in the hearts of all that love him & his music. |
How can it be anything besides 5 stars! We had a fantastic experience! There is so much to see that we wished we had been able to get there earlier! |
Agreed. Mansion was interesting. Staff was very nice. Shuttle situation S U C K E D! Plan on being here 2 to 3 hours because of that shuttle situation. We stayed at the Guesthouse hotel and ended walking back to the hotel from the museum area. |
We drove from California just to see Graceland. Check one off the bucket list, but the customer service was less than friendly. Very disappointed in the rude employees and unorganized tours. Overall, everything was clean, plenty to see and learn. Food at Vernon's was tasty! Peanut butter banana ice cream delicious! Train your employees and if they're not enjoying their job, move on to the next one, don't ruin it for those anticipating a great experience. |
Although we were pushed through like a herd of cows and I couldn't figure out the iPad until mid way into the tour, I absolutely loved this place. I'm not a die hard fan but I do love Elvis's music. We were on one of the first tours and we did purchase the vip package so that we didn't have to wait for shuttles etc. The weather was rainy so I think because of that or the fact that we were on the early tour, there weren't long lines anywhere in sight. Could I have saved the money and done the regular tour? Yes, but you never know! So I was fine with it. We forgot to check out the planes even though we paid extra so that was a bummer but we loved the tour! It took us about 2 hours to get through everything. We ate at Vernon's bbq which was really good! The prices in the gift shops are almost comical. Thankfully I'm not a Knick knack/ souvenir type person but my husband bought an ugly coffee mug for almost $20. No. No thank you. I'd go across the street and check out the discount store if I ever went back. |
What a fucking money grab! Imagine an outdoor outlet mall but instead regular stores it's gift shops and "museums". I give zero fucks what Justin Timberlake or any other artist thinks of Elvis. That's one museum. Reading about what other artist have said about Elvis. Thanks don't care. Another "museum" is personal belonging and gray boxes. Could of been cool except the personal items don't have any info. For example there is a tv with a bullet hole through it. If you want to know more go google it because they don't tell you anything, not kidding. There is a video that plays at each door and in one part of the video they explain to you how everything is catalogue and they proceed to pull out boots that still have the original mud on them as he left them.... cool as heck. Then later the show you the restoration of his car. Wait what? Keeping as he left them or restoring? Mansion is cool. Sad really. I would of enjoyed walking around the grounds, enjoying a picnic, people watching much more than what this has become. |
I did enjoy seeing Graceland, but I had been there probably 20 years ago and I enjoyed that much more. Back then it wasn't so commercial and they didn't have gift shops in the middle of every room like they do now. That being said, it still is a very cool thing to experience. We bought the self guided audio VIP tickets. So you get shuttled over to the Graceland mansion, they give you a pre-tour video presentation, they hand you an iPad on a neck strap and earphones, and an employee starts you on the mansion tour and makes sure your iPad is working properly and that you know how to operate it! The mansion is pretty much the way it was in the 1970's. We also paid $5 extra to see the Elvis airplanes (yes they actually charge you an extra $5 per person to walk through the airplanes) |
I think we came at the busiest time of day. Git tickets for just afternoon and had to wait an hour in line for the mandatory shuttle across the street. Recommend getting the Elvis experience package to see more than just the house. Overall very well curated and organized. Banana and peanut butter ice cream at the sweet shop is not to be missed! |
My husband and I were married here. Wonderful staff. And such a beautiful place. We toured Graceland for our honeymoon weekend. And we stayed 5 hours and didn't see everything. We can't wait to come back! |
My grandmother listened to Elvis faithfully. So from a young age I have always loved his music, but not until I was an adult did I become interested in learning more about him. We decided on the ultimate VIP tour. It was pricey, but well worth it. Our tour guide, Ecstasy, was very knowledgeable and made sure we had plenty of time to take pictures of everything. The fried peanut butter sandwich is a must try too. |
Being an Elvis fan, the tour of Graceland was a dream come true. The staff do a great job in keeping the home beautiful for visitors to enjoy. I loved the awards display, especially the gold records. The home itself is a beautiful southern mansion that has it's own charm and class. It was a thrill to be in the same rooms that Elvis lived and played in with the TCB gang. Long live the king! |
Absolutely perfect! What a great blend of history with a deeper understanding of a family. The staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed this much more than anticipated. Would recommend that you visit here before Sun Studios. It brings it all together for us. It is like everything just stopped or is Frozen in time here. |
We were just recently able to visit Graceland for the first time. The tours are very interactive and informative. Make sure to do the audio tour with the iPad guide. The staff here was top-notch and extremely helpful and intentional. If you are in the Memphis Tennessee area this is a must!! |
Stopped by Memphis for a bit, home of the King of Rock and Roll, none other than Elvis Presley himself. It's amazing to me to see his lavish lifestyle yet humble beginnings and a modest house considering its Elvis. It's an experience to visit and see how this Icon lived and seeing his beautiful home! Being a car enthusiast I was rather impressed to see Elvis was a a car connoisseur as well! Another exciting attraction on his Graceland is his set of planes. One day. But for now, enjoy and "Thank you very much!" - Elvis voice . Did I also mention they are pet friendly?! I just did! Thanks Elvis! Akura had a blast!! |
A must visit once in your lifetime! It's immaculately preserved and the tour provides you with so much interesting information. I was in Nashville and made the three-hour drive to Memphis, just for this! Well worth it! The car musuem is amazing with some gorgeous cars. It's a great experience for the whole family. It was really interesting to find out about his time in the army as well. Mostly fun, but obviously a couple of sad moments closer to his death and the cemetery in the backyard. The food onsite isn't the healthiest - PB and banana sandwiches, burgers, veggie burgers and fries mostly. I had the veggie burger and it was very good. |
Although I did not get to spend much time here due to working out of town in the area... I can't say I would pay the INSANE prices to explore this place more. Just to get inside and do a basic tour, the cost was near $100 for an adult! That almost, if not more expensive than visiting a major, popular amusement park! So, I did the "outside" tour. Which, wasn't much... but enough to see the vicinity & some of the cool aspects. It seemed a little "dead" as it was. Mainly older patrons wandering around. No one to really talk to or ask questions. The plane was cool to see. So was the mansion, from the exterior. The wall outside the mansion is covered in graffiti- but in a tasteful manner, so it was somewhat cultural, too. Clearly this is a famous place & historic landmark in some aspects... but ridiculously expensive to be a "tourist". Not a price I would pay for a basic tour. But, you can definitely get away with touring it from the outside. And there are several gift shops in the vicinity (I visited the one in the RV park next door which wasn't too steep for prices) but there is also a tourist gift shop or two across the street. |
So we no joke woke up Saturday morning in Nashville, got coffee, went to the Country Music Hall of Fame, and then decided to drive to Memphis to go to Graceland. 3 hours one direction for Graceland, now thats commitment. I didn't really know anything about Elvis before coming here because he is a little bit before my time, but I must say that he was impressive and his house, was amazing! Each room is decorated to the max, they're color coordinated and extravagant. The colors and patterns and stained glass, it's all so elaborate and vibrant and it truly was some kind of wonderful walking through his home knowing that real life happened there. Before leaving the mansion, stop at his headstone and give a moment of silence to a man who did so much in just the short time he was here. His planes are equally as impressive. It's definitely worth the time and the money that it takes to go through Graceland. For the basic mansion/airplane tour its $44.00. Parking is $10.00. There is food at Graceland if you're hungry. There's also several gift shops if you want to take a piece of Graceland home with you. |
Visiting Graceland was not on my bucket list, but since we were visiting Memphis, I decided to join friends that planned to go. Elvis Presley lived and died before my time, but Graceland has done a good job of building a new museum complex for future generations. The mansion tour itself probably hasn't changed much over the years. The building and grounds are a time capsule moment from the 1970s. I marveled that (minus the racquetball court and horses) many artifacts and design decor match my parents' home, complete with faux wood paneling, multi-pattern sofas, 3-windowed doors, rumpus room decor, shag rugs and kitsch everywhere! I was disappointed that visitors aren't allowed to the second floor which was Elvis' personal living quarters. We want to see his bedroom, not his parents' bed. Of all the new museum complex areas, I was most impressed with Elvis' car display, the historical exhibition of Elvis' draft time in the Army, and the Entertainment museum which chronicled Elvis' rise from nothing all the way through his Vegas days at the end. The area showing his influence on other musicians from Hendrix to KISS to Timberlake was very cool. The Archives section was boring because it just displayed artifacts and boxes with no explanation of the relationship or historical importance to Elvis. I also found the $5 extra cost to see his airplanes a total waste of time and money. At least we didn't have to wait more than a few minutes in line in the summer humidity. Unfortunately, the pervasiveness of merchandise everywhere I turned tarnished the visit. It was simply overwhelming, with almost as much space devoted to selling Elvis than to honoring him. Watch your credit card! |

We went with our special needs son. There is little recognition of the ADA for help for the disabled. In the museum there were lots of information on all Elvis did for the disabled. Graceland appears to not follow what Elvis stood for. There was very limited access for wheelchairs and no information was told to us before we were at the none accessible stairs. We missed seeing at least 1/3 of what we wanted to see. I wasn't going to leave my son and go where he could not. No employee knew of a way to get access. It seems like we should have been given prior knowledge. Not happy and this is being written 3 days after being there. I emailed Graceland 2 days ago and have had no response. That is the reason for this post
